Age Concern Charity Shop – Ceiling and Lighting Transformation
We recently completed a full ceiling and lighting upgrade for an Age Concern charity shop, significantly enhancing both the appearance and energy efficiency of the space.
Previously, the shop had a plasterboard ceiling that offered no insulation, making it difficult to maintain a consistent temperature throughout the year. The lighting consisted of outdated fluorescent tubes, which were not only costly to operate but also provided uneven and often harsh lighting — not ideal for a retail environment.
To address these issues, we installed a modern suspended ceiling system using insulated ceiling tiles that help retain warmth in the winter and keep the interior cooler in the summer. This immediately improved the comfort levels for both staff and customers.
We also fitted low-energy, high-output LED lights, which now brighten the shop beautifully while offering a significant reduction in electricity consumption. These lights are not only energy-efficient but also provide a clean, welcoming atmosphere that enhances the shopping experience.
As visible in the photos, the new ceiling has greatly improved the look and feel of the shop, making it more inviting for customers and more efficient to operate. The team at Age Concern are delighted with the transformation — a practical upgrade that supports their mission while reducing ongoing costs.
