A School Hall Transformation – Warmer, Quieter, and More Energy-Efficient
We recently completed a significant ceiling installation project in a large school hall that was struggling with common issues found in high-ceilinged spaces — poor heat retention and echoing acoustics. Despite functioning heating, the room remained cold throughout the winter months, making it uncomfortable for both students and staff during lessons, assemblies, and events.
To address these challenges, Granmore installed a brand-new suspended ceiling system, complete with 200 mm of high-performance insulation above the tiles. This addition will dramatically improve the hall’s ability to retain heat, making it far more comfortable throughout the colder months and significantly reducing the school’s heating costs.
We also upgraded the lighting by integrating energy-efficient, low-running-cost LED fittings into the new ceiling. These modern LED lights provide bright, even illumination while keeping energy consumption — and utility bills — to a minimum.
Beyond thermal efficiency, the new ceiling also enhances acoustic performance, reducing reverberation and creating a more pleasant auditory environment, ideal for a space used for performances, gatherings, and everyday school activities.
The result is a warmer, quieter, and more energy-conscious school hall that’s better suited to the needs of both students and staff — a project we’re proud to have delivered.
