Acoustic Ceiling Tiles

The main usage of acoustic ceiling tiles is usually applied to solve sound absorption problems in large spaces and environments (and sometimes small spaces too). For instance, you may find it difficult to hear sounds in places such as theatres, hospitals or large corridors. This is due to sounds being reflected in different surfaces which result to hearing echoes around the room. The echo or sound bouncing off in different surfaces is what we call “reverberation”.

To reduce the reverberation, one of the best solution is to install a suspended ceiling with acoustic tiles. When looking for this product, you will find that there are many types and also many applications for different purposes. For example, places such as kitchen or labs may need to be clean on a regular basis, therefore, it is important to pick a “wipe-able” surface tile to fit their environment. It is also a good idea to check the grades of the tiles. The weakest standard tile starts from grade 1 to 5 which is the toughest. They come in many colours to fit the style of the room. So to finally fix the reverberation, you may want to find a type that has a strong NRC (Noise Reduction Coefficient) of at least 0.75 or even higher.

In other cases, some rooms with already fitted tiles may still need more reduction of reverberation. This usually happens when the room has very high ceilings. Installing an acoustic wall panel can reduce this further.
